Presenting project ALOUT – Advancing Learning Outcomes

Youth workers across Europe build real, meaningful skills every day - in facilitation, community engagement, inclusive practice, conflict resolution, intercultural dialogue and much more. But too often, those skills go unnoticed. They don’t translate easily across borders. They don’t sit neatly on a CV. They don’t always get the credit they deserve. ALOUT exists to change that.
The ALOUT project was born to equip youth workers, trainers, and educators with tools, training, and know-how to write clear, measurable learning outcomes. By improving the quality of youth work and youth work training, we aim at enhancing recognition of competencies within the field and beyond, including the labour market and education systems.
The project will empower organizations to connect their learning outcomes with systems like EQF, Youthpass, and Open Badges. It includes research to understand the status quo in our 5 countries and at EU level, the creation of a “roadmap to EQF”, workshops for practitioners, video tutorials, updated guidelines on how to write better learning outcomes, and even an AI assistant to support youth workers in this journey. Outcomes will be tested, compiled into a best practice guide, and shared through dissemination and advocacy, strengthening recognition and impact of youth work across Europe.
Our goal is straightforward: give youth workers and trainers the practical tools they need to describe what they do and have it recognised by employers, institutions and the systems that matter.
But how do we set out to achieve that?
Main Project Goals
- Strengthen the knowledge base: Analysis of the status quo of learning outcomes in youth work, starting from our 5 countries (Austria, Italy, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Serbia)
- Empower organizations: Practical instruments for orientation toward the EQF, including video tutorials and multilingual resources
- Increase recognition: Improving the visibility and comparability of competencies gained from youth work, e.g. through digital Open Badges

The ALOUT project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union (Agreement No. 2025-1-AT01-KA220-YOU-000363996), it will receive up to 250.000 Euros and is planned to be implemented within 30 months, starting in November 2025.
